Walt Disney's Donald Duck "Christmas in Duckburg": The Complete Carl Barks Disney Library Vol. 21

My boys are always delighted to get to read these comics.

Some claim Barks'creative genius slightly declined after the peak period 1948-1954. I beg to differ. His late 50's tales are, in my view, just as wonderful and fun. The stories in this volume are an example of this: except for a couple of uninspired tales (NOT scripted by Barks) everything else is top-notch. Highly recommended!

I grew up on these comics and love them still. This volume of the Carl Barks library has some of my favorite stories, like the one where Donald runs a moving service. And of course, Christmas in Duckburg. It does include a handful of Grandma Duck stories at the end that were, at least for this farm girl, not that interesting. But still, Barks was 'the GOOD artist!' Well worth the price, for any age/generation of comic book lovers.

I enjoyed Donald Duck and the gang growing up and still do. Carl Banks comics are classics that can stand the test of time. After reading it I gave it to our 11 year old granddaughter and she is now a DD fan

My kids say this is a great book with really funny stories. They also love the illustrations, which are very well done.

This is Carl Barks. Does anything more need be said? Maybe some of his later work fell off some, but we're not there yet. He's still well inside the "Everything is Fantastic" bulk of his writing.

I have the next two in the series on order. I hope they manage to print all the volumes of Bark's superb stories.

Excellent quality of print and binding. Beautifully reproduces the experience of the old comics in a sturdy hardbound format. Highly recommend.

I've noticed that when people buy a series, they don't leave reviews of individual volumes. I kind of understand why, because if you're buying every volume, you're probably intent on collecting them all, not singling out and praising individual tomes. However, one effect of that is that when an amazing reprint series comes out, it seems to be somewhat ignored. I just wanted to weigh in here and say how much I appreciate Fantagraphics going to all of the trouble to re-issue these amazingly clean and beautiful volumes of Donald Duck and Uncle Scrooge. The stories are great, the books look amazing, and they are a wonderful, ongoing source of pleasure. It's really great that someone sat down and decided to do the job both well and completely. I recommend these books fully for anyone, but most particularly for families with young children. "Christmas in Duckburg" is as good as any of them -- I don't know how to recommend which one you start with. If you like fantasy, adventure, wit, absurdity, or mania, Barks has something for you.
