A purchase you will not regret!
This is my first scooter and I was really excited to receive it! It came out of the box ready to go and is relatively easy to fold and unfold. This scooter is very sturdy! My husband is super tall and over 350#. he got on it with no problems and it rolled fine. I took it with me to a conference and not only did I easily maneuver a large Convention Center, I used it to get to places that were miles away quickly and efficiently. The one thing I would say, that I have not seen others say is that I happen to be a very experienced roller skater (quads) and I have had no problems riding and balancing on this contraption. My husband who is not an experienced skater, said he felt uncertain on it and that it made him a little nervous. Of course, it rolls great on flatter surfaces, but it goes over bumpier surfaces all right as well. I did not run into any kind of wet pavement, but I'm sure it would have the same problems that roller skates do outdoors and that is sliding. Standing in the right place takes some getting used to, but you will be happy with the wide expanse of the plate that you stand on. Because it's so wide it's very easy to switch your legs for kicking off. The scooter's handle bar also comes up very high, which I am glad for and my husband who is 6 ft 9 in could maneuver it easily enough. I understand you're not supposed to put all of your weight on the handle bars, but they seem super sturdy to me if you need to do so here and there. My only complaint happens to be with the wheels and I have the same complaint for roller skates. Why isn't somebody manufacturing a wheel that is good on wet surfaces as well as dry Surfaces? Also, why not use a softer urethane that people can buy if they want to skate predominantly outside? These two things have more to do with things that roll in general. This is a great scooter and you'll be happy with your purchase. I did my research and from what I can tell, you really can't do much better! The only other scooter that happens to measure up seems to be the GoPed and the price for it is higher (ridiculous!) than this one and the hubs on the Goped wheels are not metal - not good if you are heavy. I did like the little rubber outdoor wheel, but the xootr was cheaper and you seem to get more for the money, especially with the good-looking design. The Xootr does roll very well and keeps rolling well with less pushing.

High quality and easy to use commuter scooter.
I've been using this to commute to college and it's been a very great scooter so far. You can feel how high quality the parts are and how it's well assembled. This is a very light scooter to carry. I always carry it with me into my classes and I barely have to exert any effort to bring it with me. It is relatively small enough that I can fit it under my desk or to the side of it without it getting in the way. The folding mechanism requires a learning curve as you must aim the front wheel perfectly with the base of the scooter in order for it to fold correctly. It took my a couple days to get used to it, but with practice I'm sure it will become one quick motion. I love the quick release button at the base when unfolding the scooter as it makes it so easy to unfold and go within seconds. As some users have mentioned, it can be rattly at times when going over bumps, but I personally don't mind it: it's actually a good safety measure as pedestrians are able to hear me coming. The front brake is a nice feature and combined with the foot brake, this scooter can stop fairly quickly. The front brake has a nice progressive feel so you won't accidentally lock up the front wheel. Some have complained about the bumpy ride, but let's be honest, I didn't buy this for comfort. It doesn't have a suspension of any sort so why would I expect it to ride smoothly over road imperfections?? They even claim that this scooter performs best on smooth pavement so don't expect this to glide over potholes. If you need a scooter that can do that, get one with a suspension. Just know that suspension scooters are much heavier. However, on smooth pavement, this scooter glides with ease and can go pretty fast. Overall, I'm very glad with my purchase and I can't wait to continue using it everyday!

Gamechanger for Big Guy
I rarely write reviews--mainly because I'm too busy. But, I'm just going to say this--I should have purchased this before. I'm 287 lbs, fat, 6'-0", use mass transit daily to go to work (in Los Angeles....yes, Los Angeles). I would use my bike before, but it's pretty clumsy to get on and off the train, up/down stairs, etc. I just got my Xootr, and I have to say that this is a gamechanger for me. It's light (for me), easy to bring on the train, easy to fold up (once you get the hang of it), and extremely sturdy. For a larger guy, the Xootr isn't that heavy (which helps because I always carry a heavy backpack to work). It's easy to maneuver. Granted, you do feel the sidewalk bumps (but it's not that bad), but it's all around a pleasant transit. I just used my Xootr in transit from the metro station to my home (normally that would be 15-20 minutes to walk--and it took me 4-6 minutes on the Xootr. I'm not saying that this is a best for everyone, but for my life (transit of 21 miles back-and-forth with the last half-mile on the Xootr or back from the station to home), the gym, and just getting around. Even in this short time I've had the Xootr, it has really improved my quality of life (especially for a bigger guy who would never get on a skateboard because of balance issues). The front and back brake work well and help with the terror of going at a decline (just use your breaks before you zoom too quickly out of hand). Of course, the wheels might need replacing eventually because of my weight and sidewalk (and I'll get that done because I have to do the same for my expensive bikes), but for now, I'm really enjoying myself. Thanks so much. I should have purchased this a long time before. It would have saved me a lot of annoying of transit with my bikes.
