TLDR: get it for the price if it isn’t for your job. Pros, sorry for my crimes against hair and thank you for your work 🙌 I’ve had this kit for over a year now and I can honestly say it’s a great budget option for DIY cuts. I’ve used it to accompany a clipper and by itself with success, so pretty versatile. I was worried the razor would be trash quickly but the blades can actually pretty easily be removed and replaced. It isn’t difficult to adjust the tension, and they’re only just starting to get dull but it wouldn’t be difficult to sharpen the scissors. Not sure about the thinning shears but at the price, they’re a good starter tool at the very least. A nice bonus is the little blue gem on the scissors, didn’t notice it before today but it is cute. I wouldn’t recommend this to a pro, but it’s comfortable and easy to use with 99% of what you need included for anyone just getting started or who wants a way to touch up between cuts. (Not pictured is the cape, which I actually just use to catch all the hair then dump in the trash to make cleanup easier. As a fun bonus it was also able to catch a glass file that I dropped during a cut and contain the glass so I didn’t have to spend a million years searching for unusual sparkles in my grout.) For what it is? 5 stars. Definitely meant for DIY cuts and beginner education, but the price reflects that and the quality is honestly not bad for what it is. My only minor complaint is that if I want to store the cape in the original case, I’d have to compress it which makes it slightly less easy to grab and go. But I don’t think the average person is expecting that to be the case so I’m not letting it impact my rating, just an FYI it you're purchasing with the goal of it being an all in one kit stored as such. But the case is actually big enough that you can add some extra clips and things which is nice. And the included clips are plastic, which may be a downside to some but the metal ones always rip my hair out so I say it’s a win. One little caveat i will add is that I would like if the kit came with a small mirror. I use one in addition and it didn’t affect the cost much, but it would’ve been nice to have even a little one with its own built place into the kit. I might get a compact to add because, like I said, there’s room for it. I could probably even add Velcro or a stretchy strap myself for not much so maybe this isn’t a gripe so much as it is a new fun project for me. Out of ten

I have had this set now for a few years. I love it! Both the scissors and the trimming shears work perfectly well. They are still sharp and I use them regularly to cut my hair, my son in laws hair, my grandkids hair, and my daughter uses them sometimes. Definitely worth every penny. The double sided razor comb is a tad bit on the cheaper end I use it still but it just feels cheap and weak in my hand. The case is sturdy and the zipper works smoothly. It hasn’t fallen apart over the years at all. I would definitely buy this again!

Good quality. Great cape, full size and well made. Carrying/storage case is a real plus.

As an amateur hair stylist - basically, my own hair and my daughter's - this set is completely adequate and sufficient for what I need. The sheers are sharp and provide a clean cut. The thinning sheers are a convenient tool for our thick hair. I like the convenience of the hair clips being in the case so that I don't have to search for bobby pins when I get urge to cut my hair. Everything I need is right there in the convenient case. I recommend these for home use. I cannot compare them to professional-grade tools, but these have worked well for me over the last several months.

Had a mix up where they didn't ship it on time and claimed I didn't pay (I did - either they didn't see it or the processing was delayed). I contacted them about it and they got it to me ASAP, so that was cool. I used to have some professional scissors from Japan when I lived in Asia. They were sharp, heavy duty, and very reliable for years. Those cost about $50 at the time. Years before that I had the cheap hair cutting shears from walmart with the plastic finger rings for like $10. I am not a professional or had any training, but cut my own hair or for others when we were expats and had trouble communicating our preferences at the time. Back in the US now and having to cut our own hair because of the shelter at home orders. This whole set has everything you need, except for the trimmer, for $30ish. Right off the bat, I knew it wasn't as nice as the Japanese shears I had before. But I did appreciate how heavy duty they were. The swivel has a bit more resistance than I would prefer, but smooth. The weight and resistance is not comfortable for long term daily use, but it seems like it will last a long time. It wasn't sharp enough, but not that dull either. Lightly sharpened it and it works great right away. Thinning shears, razor, comb, clips, cape, and cleaning cloth were actually better than the shears. If you want better shears that are professional, pay more. But this has the essentials we need for now. Would recommend you give the shears a little sharpening and adjust the swivel first. They are not great out of the box but have good potential if tweaked a little. Update - after using the shears a couple of times they basically stopped working. It’s so dull that the hair gets pinched in between the blades without actually cutting. Furthermore it won’t sharpen after that. I have a feeling these are not the hard metal it claims to be. The rest of the set remains okay so far...

I spent a lot of time looking for a decent pair of hairdresser scissors to cut my husbands hair and I was really impressed with the quality of this product. PS. His hair cut came out very well and I am now his hairdresser!!
