Could i cut this and would it hold up to a tailight bulb heat?

That is what I bought it for. I researched many other sheets online, but this one is the only one that was recommended to last and hold up as a tail light cover. I am planning on cutting it today, and am planning on using LED lights, as they run a bit cooler. I'll let you know how it goes.

How does this take to sanding and polishing a rounded edge as well as drilling a hole??

It should work fine. I cut and rounded, then sanded the edge and it did just what you would hope for it to do. I think it will work for what you're wanting to do.

what is the thickness in millimeters

The ones I received were 5mm (7/32") thick. I needed a full 1/4" (6mm) for what I intended them for, but I will use them for a different project later.
