Elizabeth Bishop is one of the greatest American poets. Her work is essential for anyone interested in poetry from the 20th Century. This edition includes her complete works, translations she did by other poets and her uncollected works. It also includes her original handwritten or typed drafts of some of her later poems. It's fascinating to see her how she worked and the changes she made. This book is essential for every poetry collection.

Amazing work. I cannot recommend it enough. Bishop's poetry has impressive depth but also a beautiful simplicity. I find something new every time I reread a poem of hers. The book is of high quality and is an excellent accumulation of her work.

As I was watching the “docuseries”…I was struck by the simple beauty of the poet’s expression of universal themes ..& thot I’d like to find out if these poems were devised for the presentation…or if there’s “a real poet “ present? Fortunately…there’s a real poet and here’s her works… Ordinarily not following poets or poetry…& Ignorant …then…of the life affirming works.. universal recognition….accolades…awards … of gifted poet….Elizabeth Bishop…. I learned of this book of her poetry…& immediately ordered it! I haven’t been disappointed! It’s now present on my nightstand…to be opened…at will…& often….

The book was received in fairly good condition, there's a bend mark on the front cover since it was used before. Overall the book was great and the poems written by Bishop herself was magnifying at her specific word choice. The price and quality of this poetry is worth adding into my contemporary classic poetry collection!

Elizabeth Bishop could be called the poet's poet; she remains one of the most vastly underrated writers of the 20th century. This is a wonderful collection of her work showcasing both the breadth and depth of her output and is recommended to all lovers of poetry.

It is a marvelous collection of poems of a true genius.

Wasn't as expected. Disappointed. Seeking credit. Additionally, ordered just ONE copy and TWO copies were delivered.

There is so much to like about Bishop’s work, and this volume captures a vast and vastly different array of poems, including a significant evolution of her style over decades. If you want to observe the work of one of the world’s greatest ever poets (in any language, in any era, and in any vernacular) read this.

It's such a lovely volume, I love the typeface and margins (soothing!). The introduction is lovely, capable, and feels comprehensive enough - the poems themselves are so captivating (and so often bada**, no one turns a line like Bishop), I think the price is fair for a complete (mostly complete - "unfinished" poems now found in Edgar Allan Poe & the Juke-Box are worth anyone's time) collection of her poems, and for such a nice, clean, compact(ish) collection at that. A++++to infinity.

The complete poems by Elizabeth Bishop in a careful edition. A really great poet, even if her output was not extensive at all. Only one problem: in the e-book the index of titles and first lines of the poems is not working and is therefore totally useless. It is not easy to locate a poem.

Bishop was one of the best poets of the twentieth century. Her highly descriptive, visual style is quite beautiful. She was not a prolific poet, but there are many rich poems to be found in this collected poems.
