Very pleased with this upgrade. My 2017 Ford Ranger had a broken tailgate. The metal construction was significantly more durable and strong than the OEM part that broke. It fit perfectly with no modifications needed. Easy job. Doesn’t come with instructions but if you are unsure a quick trip to YouTube will have you set. Handle has worked well and no signs of scratches or wear after months of use.

I replaced the oem garbage latch with this all metal latch and my god what a difference. Not that it needed it. I did spray a little white lithium grease for added lubricant and water protection. It is smooth like butter. Wish i did this sooner! Was super easy to replace and it fit nicely. Its definitely and looks durable.

This model has a metal handle, but still have the plastic leverage arms. These are much thicker and should last longer. It installed easily.

The plastic tailgate handle on my Ranger broke, not too disappointing, the truck is 17 years old. A factory original from the dealership would cost over $300, this handle in plastic cost $15. I upgraded to the $35 metal handle. No installation instructions were included, but a search on YouTube found several good demonstrations. Installation was easy and only required a few basic handle tools. I gave 4 stars because of a minute amount of play on one side caused by the rivet in the pivot point, an acceptable compromise considering the price difference of a factory part. I recommend this part.

Works great! The mounting brackets are metal also and easy to install. Just unbolt the 2 bolts and nuts holding on the old and bolt on the new. Much better than the plastic stock handle that broke on my 2011 Ford Ranger

After 21 years the plastic handle on my tailgate broke — at a V-E-R-Y inopportune time. I found this replacement and bought it because it appeared to be a far more substantial product — at a more substantial price. It arrived within a few days and I found it to be much better than the original. I’m not a mechanic, but had the old handle removed and the new installed in ten minutes. The fit and function is perfect. The trucks should have come from the factory with this handle! Sometimes you get what you pay for!

Built tough and to last long time Better than Original! Worth the Price

I have a Ford Ranger and have had to replace the tailgate handle twice in the last two years. The model I received from our Ford dealership was a very flimsy plastic one and both broke within a short time. This handle is metal and well built. It installed quickly, fit with no alterations and has worked flawlessly since its installation. A definite home run.

So I called Ford to get a quote on replacing my handle. $50 for the stock plastic handle and $120 for "45 minutes of labor". Well maybe they should hire me, because I was able to replace mine in 15 minutes including the bed liner removal. BUY THIS HANDLE. The biggest failure in the Ford stock handle is that the arms are plastic, mine broke off in my hand (that's probably why you're here too, isn’t it?). This baddie is solid metal with a gorgeous matte finish. A YouTube tutorial will get you on your way, and saving $150 bucks will get you a tank of gas and then some. Only $10 more than the plastic stock handle on Amazon, and you'll never have to replace it.

Definitely a great upgrade from the plastic OEM tailgate handle, originally replaced with a crappy OEM handle and broke again within 3 months. Replaced it with this handle and works like a charm
