Advantus 12 Inch Desktop World Globe with Blue Oceans (30502)

I wanted to get a globe to have for our homeschool, but I didn't want to have to pay an extreme amount of money for a good one. There are many cheap ones out there, but I do believe you get what you pay for and I don't think they would last that long. Then I found this one. There were a few negative reviews, but they were thinks like the print is so small on some parts, well, there is only so much room. This globe was described by most reviewers to have a very nice stand for the price and they were correct. It is a metal stand that enables the globe to rotate in all directions, left right up down. It is metal amd seems very sturdy. I have had no problems with tipping at all. It is also a raised relief globe, which means that the mountain ranges and such are raised up and when you run your finger over them you can feel them. Great feature. The colors are great and the oceans, latitude and longitude are all marked out along go with the proper names for the ones that are usually noted. Over all, I think this globe is excellent in quality and a great price!

I've wanted a globe for some time, but i've found it really hard to decide because of the reviews. All seemed worthless, to judge from them.i'm happy with this one. The stand is excellent, and mountains are depicted by elevations on the globe. As for accuracy, everything seems to be labeled, the labels are legible, and they aren't falling off. i'm not going to check see if Taiwan is depicted as a separate nation because i don't care. The globe is very attractive, and it gives me a good feeling for the real (not Mercator) sizes of the countries and continents in question.(A note about my method of reading reviews: i zero in on the worst reviews and try to winnow the nut-cases and whiners and unfortunates from those who make sensible comments. A great many of positive reviews seem to come from interested parties, while occasional really bad reviews are paragons of speaking truth to bad products. An alternative method of parsing reviews is to sort by date added. if all the latest reviews say "this product sucks," that is a bad sign.)

The Advantus world globe is a hit at my office. It's beautifully detailed and spins smoothly. The base and frame are high-quality mirror-finish metal, a weighty, sturdy globe. Co-workers are drawn to it. I couldn't ask for more. It has neat features like international date line info and solstice/equinox info. I haven't had time to explore it fully, but believe it is well worth the modest price. It's a lovely model of the blue planet third from the sun, and the vendor (123) packed it very well. It took a little over a week to arrive and was well worth the wait. My one (very tiny) quibble is that it tends to rest at an angle that I don't care for because of the double axis. I'm going to stick a small magnet on the frame so it stays "upright." This is simply because the lettering is oriented to north=top. Or maybe I'll let it rest at an angle I'm not used to--reminding me that the US is not front and center on the earth. Oh--123 sends it in an inner, silver box with handles so you can carry it safely and easily if you need to transport it. Nice!

I travel a lot for my job and pleasure, and wanted a globe rather than a wall map to track my travels. I read all the reviews for the globes offered by different vendors on Amazon. This globe had the best reviews, and I was pleased that it is as good as rated. Rather than a paper cover, the globe is a plastic that only has one seam - on the equator. All of the latitude and longitude line up perfectly. The colors are crisp and easy on the eyes. I ordered transparent 1/8" dot stickers on Amazon to mark where I have lived and traveled - different colors for different types of travel. It has worked out beautifully.I like that the globe not only spins on its axis but also rotates around on the yoke, making accessing the southern hemisphere super easy. The stand is nice polished chrome and provides a firm base for the globe. My globe did have the same problem another customer noted, it pivots on the yoke and will not remain upright. It seems like it is an easy fix - so I will remove the two screws securing the globe to the yoke and reattach them.d perfectly, providing enough friction to hold the globe in any position I desire to swing it.

Globe was purchased from Stores123, arrived six days later well packaged and undamaged. The globe is attractive and the map surface appears to be some sort of matt vinyl rather than paper as is found on most globes. The only seam on the entire globe is at the equator. I don't know how this was accomplished but it should add greatly to it's durability with no seams to come unglued and lift. On my sample longitudinal lines are perfectly matched at both hemispheres with attractive straight taping at the equator. To my eye, the map surface could do with a bit more contrast between colors as well as a bit more informational detail, but at this price point I'm happy with it. My only complaint with the globe was that when placed on the shelf the globe would pivot on the yoke from pole to pole and would not remain upright. I corrected this by removing the two Torx bit machine screws that secure the globe to the yoke and after removing the two tiny spring steel lock washers, I slipped the lock washers over the screws themselves and reattached them. It worked perfectly, providing enough friction to hold the globe in any position I desire to swing it. Aside from that single flaw, the stand is very nice, and made of polished chrome steel with substantial weight and rigidity. Overall, I'm quite happy with my purchase, although I do intend to supplement the globe with the purchase of a good atlas to provide greater detail when needed.

Love this globe. Great Product at a great price. Looks even better in person. Bought this for my 6 and 4 yr old, they love it too. Best feature on it is the stand which allows a look at north and south poles without picking it up (swivel stand). The stand is also adequately weighted and the globe as a whole seems well constructed. The individual states of the USA are depicted in different colors which is a added benefit. Most major mountain ranges have a raised relief, but on a globe of this size it is not very noticeable. While I would recommend a bigger globe for a school setting, I find this globe perfect for the home or office, for quick reference. The globe came fully assembled and well packaged in an attractive looking silver colored box.

This is a very nice globe. It seems very well constructed. The axes turn smoothly, the base is solid and well polished. I can't tell for sure what the surface material is, maybe plastic, probably coated paper, but it is smooth and firm. The longitude lines align perfectly across the seam at the equater. The oceans are colored to indicate depth. The physical relief (i.e. raised mountains) are only raised slightly, but probably about the right proportion, and they all seem to be in the right places. The land coloring is primarily political, though there is some shading to indicate mountains. South Sudan is included, so it's pretty current.One minor point, the beginnings of the seasons don't match US conventions (in the US the summer solstice is the start of summer, etc.) They indicate the start of summer midway between the spring equinox and summer solstice, around May 5, etc.

I am 100% satisfied with this globe.I bought this globe for my 10 year old daughter who is interested in geography. When it came in the mail, the box had a tear in it so I was a little worried but it wasn’t damaged. I read a lot of reviews on this globe and several others.I was impressed with the size and bright colors. I like the textured mountain ranges. I like that you can rotate it in all degrees. It shows the borders of all the US states.

Brought for a Christmas gift. Great size and quality and detail is at the highest

Compré éste globo como regalo para mi pareja y le encantó, duró alrededor de 2 horas admirando los detalles. Los materiales son de muy buena calidad, los colores contrastan muy bien, la base es algo pesada lo cual te hace confirmar que es rígido y no se va a caer para nada, en lo personal me encantó que el globo gira en cuatro ejes gracias a los dos aros que lo rodean, otro característica que está muy genial es que tiene detalles de relieve sensible al tacto donde están posicionadas las sierras, cerros y montañas de cada país. This was a gift and I am very happy with the quality. It is a relief map and it also tilts so you can better see all parts of the globe. The base was heavy enough and it was not flimsy at all.
