Works much better than the ones I got from the dr's office. It is much more comfortable thatn the high priced ones as well. Review: Solid Backup - Let me make one thing clear about this brace-it's not made for long time use. I'm recovering from a stroke and have a custom made, heavy duty AFO brace. I've walking 3-5 miles/day using it and one of the spring hinges finally broke. It took a month to get a new custom brace (thanks, insurance companies!) so I decided to give this simple brace a try so I could get around while I was waiting. It looks pretty flimsy coming out of the box but I was pleasantly surprised how well it worked I also got lucky in that the Large Left Brace fit fit perfectly into my size 13 shoe so I didn't have to do any trimming. I don't recommend walking long distances in it as it will start to chafe your skin but it's a fantastic and cheap backup for me. I even bought a second one and threw it in the trunk of my car for emergencies.
