Install should have been quick, but snap ring on bottom was a real PITA for me. See pic. Tolerances are CRAP. Had to add sheet metal to eliminate slop. Outer shaft over 1mm too thin. Inner fitting is too sloppy also, had to sleeve with aluminum from a can. Stock shifter knob wouldn't stay because of taper. Had to dremel a groove for it to bite on. And, stock knob, it's "now 11:00 instead of 12". I ended up pot committed, and did more work than the mfrs to make it work 90%. Sigh.

For the price you can't go wrong!
It took a little work to make it fit in my E46 but after about 4 hours it fit and it was amazing while I owned the car. It shifted great and it drastically changed the feel of my car. I was about to drive it and be confident with my shifts

Not quite a perfect fit on 2002 330Ci - Had to grind down lip.
Finally beat the beast into submission, but I had to grind down about half of the lip where it sits. (See red lines on attached picture. The distance from line to line had to be cut in half.) Once I grounded it down, it fit nicely. However, I did this with the transmission out. Cannot speak to difficulty without removing the transmission. I also had to sand down the white bushing, but that was trivial. I will update post with performance and feel info once tranny is back in place.

Don’t buy, just get something else than this
This product didn’t fit my car how it was supposed too, I had to sand down the actual product For it too slide and fit in good, and the c clip provided is garbage, broke on me 3 times already while driving cause the product didn’t fit correctly

Took long for delivery, but overall great product.

Needs some work to fit the E46 M3
Description clearly states this will fit E46 and M3. I have an E46 M3 and this will not fit without modification. I knew that when I bought this, so I gave it an extra star, but the description is deceiving.

It’s cheap I guesss
Doesn’t have the notch that holds the knob on So your shift knob always comes off when shifting

It's.....okay.
Mine fit after alot of grinding and swearing. I had to add a washer to the retainer clip that holds the ball on to get rid of the slop. Overall it feels good. The shifter itself is pretty junky.
